New advanced SEO published February 2023
- Westray Merinos, Peak Hill, NSW
We've completed and published a new advanced SEO campaign for Westray Merinos targeting the following keywords:
Poll Merino Rams
Heavy Cutting Merinos
Profitable Merino Genetics
Dual Purpose Merinos
Medium Micron Merinos
With the usual framework of meta head tags, keyword heavy alt image tags, unique page titles and descriptions along with creative use of h1 text we've also added 5 target keyword focused heavy content pages.
On top of this we also developed custom error documents, generated a robots.txt file and submitted a new sitemap.xml file. These are all designed to tell the Google crawlers how to navigate the site and what components of the website are suitable for indexing.
The site was then verified by Google via their URL Inspection Tool and we expect to see results in the next 7 days. The site currently has no ranking in Google Search using any of our targeted keywords.
The next step is to add some backlinks to prominent directories around the web. For this we use Moz Rank to determine what websites are going to provide the best benefit from backlinks.
Moz Rank is one of the most popular and dependable metrics if you want to measure the authority of a domain or web page. Moz created the metric “Mozrank” to calculate the search engine optimization rating of a certain web page or a website. Mozrank score is calculated between 1 to 10 on a scale. 10 is the highest score on the scale and 1 is the lowest Moz rating. The Moz ranking of a certain web page is based on the popularity of the pages that are linked to them. This would also mean that if the MozRank of the linking pages is high, there is a greater chance that the MozRank of the receiving page of those links will be high too.
Obviously we want to place backlinks on websites with the most authority. Needless to say, the big hitters are a perfect score of 10 in Moz Rank.
They are:
facebook.com - Moz Rank: 10
youtube.com - Moz Rank: 10
instagram.com - Moz Rank: 10
There are other directories people use too, but these are so insignificant that the benefit of placing backlinks in them are minimal. For example:
localsearch.com.au - Moz Rank: 5.3
yellowpages.com.au - Moz Rank 6.3
foursquare.com - Moz Rank 7.3
yelp.com.au - Moz Rank 5.5
oneflare.com.au - Moz Rank 5.5
hipages.com.au - Moz Rank 5.6
wordofmouth.com.au - Moz Rank 4.9
hotfrog.com.au - Moz Rank 4.9
australianplanet.com - Moz Rank 5.7
The top two website directories here also contract and charge businesses to be listed on their directory in a meaningful way, so we definitely don't use those, as there is no ROI benefit to them at all. The other low graded Moz ranking directory sites are completely free of charge. So we'll stick to the top 3 for maximum effect and gradually add them to the smaller, free directories over time.
