It's been 7 years since we started working with Michael and Sam at Acacia Plumbing and we have worked with this client on 2 Cairns website design projects in that time, with the second website version going online earlier this year in March.
Having worked with us on Google Ads marketing since back at the beginning, they realise how powerful it is for generating leads and enquiries when managed by Allcorp. Their original Cairns Google Ads campaign was setup by us back in 2018 and the client has periodically started and paused this campaign based on their capacity to handle more work. Basically, as they need bookings they turn it on and when they get too busy they turn it off.
It seems they have been busy for the last few years because they hadn't pressed play on their original Google Ads campaign for a couple of years. With Google continually developing and improving their Ads platform, there are many more features and components available each year to help optimise and streamline the product. When the client asked us to start up their Google Ads again to get them busy for the end of year, we advised that best practice would be to setup the ads all over again.
The only thing we carried over to the new campaign was the negative keywords list we've been adding to in the account history. These negative keywords are compiled from real search data for the historic searches and clicks of their Google Ads. These are words that we consider waste as they are not relevant to the client campaign. For example, a keyword that might trigger the ads of a plumber such as Acacia Plumbing, may be 'Plumbing Jobs' or 'Plumber Licence Check.' These are keywords we don't want triggering their ads so we add them to the negative keyword list and they never trigger the client ads again.
