2023 marks our 23rd year as the leading digital marketing company in the Cairns & Townsville regions and what a year it was. As a company, Allcorp are always forward thinking and looking towards the future for the latest trends in digital marketing.
We’ve always remained true to our principles of making the digital marketing industry our own and guiding it through trends. We’ve never become lazy and resorted to pumping out bland WordPress or Wix websites from premade templates. We’ve always been developing the digital marketing industry to our own rules. And our own rules are extremely successful. Just ask our clients!
We’re grateful for our clients who have supported us along the way, some even from the very beginning back in the year 2000.
Over the last 12 months Allcorp have introduced the Cairns & Townsville business community to the latest and greatest advertising concepts. Whether this be with our always evolving website design and website development services, our Google Ads marketing services, for which we remain the original and most prominent Google Partner in the region, our provision of the highest qualified search engine optimisation products, commercial photography and videography, social media management and graphic design services, we’re always learning and improving to bring the best tools in the trade to assist local businesses.
Over 2023 we have also been taking the lead and assisting local agencies and even website providers from the rest of Australia, helping them improve their own products and services. Chances are, that if you had any sort of digital marketing produced by a local agency in 2022, we had a hand in getting the project completed. Whether this be by inspiration or direct mentorships to local agencies, we take the lead and guide the industry as a whole.
We’re looking forward to developing our partnerships with more local advertising agencies in 2023 and helping to shape the Cairns & Townsville digital marketing world further.
Thanks to all the great and wonderful clients we’ve met through 2022 and to all the businesses that have supported us for the last 23 years. 2023 will be a big year of more class leading products and new ideas designed to bring the latest in technology and design to North Queensland.

Now heading to Townsville for the HIA-CSR Townsville Central QLD and North QLD Housing Kitchen and Bathroom Awards Night to see who progresses to the next round
Last month, the Allcorp team attended the HIA-Pioneer North QLD Cairns Housing, Kitchen & Bathroom Awards at the Pullman International Hotel and it was great to meet up with so many of our local clients in the building industry. It seems that at these events, more than half the room consists of clients we are working with.
It was also great that one third of all the awards handed out went to our clients. Well done to everyone for showing your usual class and excellence.
This upcoming Friday night sees us attending the HIA-CSR Townsville Central QLD and North QLD Housing Kitchen and Bathroom Awards Night where some of the category winners from the Cairns’ awards will progress to take out a North Queensland award.
Of course, this will see our Cairns & Townsville building industry clients competing for an even more prestigious accolade and we are eager to see who gets crowned as the leaders in their field.
Allcorp are supporters of these HIA Awards events as a Gold Sponsor, and we do this because we cherish our clients who are in the building industry. As this industry is comprised of building companies, contractors to these building companies, suppliers of hardware, people in the building design industry and even the legal and accounting industry it really does have a trickle-down effect and we find it positions us amongst business owners who we love working with.
We also like to support the awards nights because they are great fun and once everyone gets into the drinks and cocktails (Bar tab paid by us) the night really gets cranking.
But mostly we want to support the building industry as a whole and our investment into this can only help the HIA Awards in both Cairns & Townsville give the best show they can to the deserving building industry business owners throughout North Queensland.

Allcorp & Google partner together for our 8th year
North Queensland’s most experienced digital marketing company renews partnership with Google for another year
Allcorp were the first company in the North Queensland region to bring official Google marketing products to the market in 2015. At this time, the arena consisted of media agencies who were still promoting print, radio and television advertising. It wasn’t until 3 years after we introduced the North Queensland audience to Google advertising products that other advertising outlets followed suit.
By this time it was too late. With Allcorp’s impressive client list of more than 1,500 local businesses, by the time the Cairns Post, Townsville Bulletin, radio and TV ad sales departments caught on to the Google way, Allcorp had already filled the niche and had a fast growing dominance of the Google Ads and digital marketing industry.
While the other media sales outlets did eventually start adopting the Google way, their expectations were not satisfied and, soon afterwards, they all went out of business completely or downsized to a fraction of their former size. In this business it pays to be at the forefront of technology and act quickly.
After the newspapers, radio and TV advertising sales divisions made much of their staff redundant, a lot of their old sales representatives went out and established their own advertising agencies. With not much skill within their resume, they have retained their sales roles but now sub-contract the production work for all their products to overseas providers or inexperienced juniors. A recipe for disaster for both their businesses and their poor clients.
Why is Allcorp continuing with the Google Partners program?
Essentially, we chose to remain a Google Partner because we really do believe in the power of their products. When used correctly by a competent and experienced operator, the effects this type of marketing can have on a business are amazing.
For us to continue providing the full suite of Google Ads products to the region we’re best to remain as a partner of theirs. This is through insights only available to the Google Partner and also the level of access we have to new products and services that are exclusive to those in the Partners program.
We also have a great support team at Google who act as our dedicated account managers. We’ve built up a great relationship with the team at Google Sydney since we started working with them back in 2015 and expect to further develop our reputation with the Google Australia team.

If one of your competitors is copying you, then take it as a compliment
Don’t take it to heart, they’re copying you because they’re intimidated by you
At Allcorp we deal with a huge cross section of different, locally owned businesses. At last count we had over 1,500 digital marketing clients. With the privilege of dealing with so many different companies in the region we hear many stories of how clients are annoyed with their competition businesses copying their every move.
This could be with their marketing style, their branding or even the way they handle their day-to-day business dealings. In small towns like Cairns & Townsville this copying behaviour doesn’t go unnoticed for very long.
At Allcorp we’ve had our fair share of competition businesses copy what we do. From copying the products and services we supply, copying internal jargon and even copying entire website designs and claiming it for themselves.
It happens frequently and guess what, we find it quite charming and flattering. It’s not just the small-town agencies who copy, it’s bigger national companies who have done this in the past.
When you find out that a competition business is copying what you do, don’t let it get to you. Take it as a sign that the business copying is really intimidated by you and your business and they really want to be just like you. They just don’t know how to do it on their own and decide it’s easier to just follow you as the leader.
Let them copy because when they are busy copying you, they are always 2 steps behind. Just keep moving forward and doing what you do best. For a bit of extra fun, when you know there’s a shadow business copying your every move, throw a few easter eggs their way by planting a trap for them to copy for that little bit of confirmation that your instincts were right all along.
Are AI bots costing you unnecessary spend?
If not controlled correctly, Google’s AI bots could be making silly decisions that could be wasting your money
These days basically all technology providers such as Google and Facebook, use their own artificial intelligence (AI) systems to make automatic adjustments to your marketing campaigns. These AI bots are deployed to streamline your ads, where you target and what keywords are being linked to your ads account.
The problem with these supposed super intelligent, class leading AI systems is that they can often be quite stupid. And it gets worse when Google announces their policy shift where partner agencies, such as us, are forced to accept the automated changes applied by their AI systems to remain a Google Partner.
If you are running any sort of digital marketing and your agency isn’t managing the AI systems effectively, you’ll be wasting your budget in a matter of months. At Allcorp we provide the highest levels of management for our hundreds of advertisers and are diligent in fighting off the stupid suggestions of their AI.
For example, we have an advertiser who owns a pool shop and when we were doing our monthly maintenance on their account, we found that the AI systems Google use had demanded that they use headlines in their ads that contain common search terms used to find them in the campaign. While some of these automatically applied suggestions were valid, the AI system had decided that because people were clicking on this client’s ads from a search for a competition business, then the name of that competition business should be in the ad headline.
Another example of the constant AI battle is with location targeting. For some reason, Google’s AI has decided that Noosa is close to Cairns & Townsville and keeps trying to place the client ads in front of users in that area, irrelevant to the advertiser as they can’t service customers that are 1600km away.

In that time we have managed a portfolio of hundreds of advertisers and have seen the Google Partner Portal evolve significantly. We manage the limitations of the Google AI bots and make sure that they don’t get carried away and start manipulating the advertiser’s campaigns irrelevantly.

.au domains have been released meaning Australia can now drop the .com from domain names

For the first time in our history, Australia will soon be able to drop the .com from our domain names with the launch of .au domain names.
If you can demonstrate that your business has a connection to Australia, you will be able to purchase .au domain names. This is the first time that .au domain names have become available. This is due to extensive studies and research by the auDA, the organisation who manages and oversees Australian domain names.
Businesses and associations that already have a domain under .com.au or .net.au will have first option to register the corresponding .au website in the six months after the launch. So if you have an existing com.au or .net.au domain name, chances are your .au domain is already reserved for you up until September.
It's up to each individual business as to whether they want to register this additional domain prefix, but we recommend every business does as it will protect your own brand and identity and, assuming .au is the way forward and we aren't using the .com/.net derivatives any longer, it will keep your business relevant to expectations.
