This is a brand new Allcorp client who came to us for some assistance in improving their online presence. They originally had a small template WordPress site, which we promptly threw in the bin where it belongs.
Our commercial photographer arranged a photoshoot at the client office and on location at various Cairns landmarks. It's always a good idea to work as many local photos into your website design because it gives users a sense of trust that you are, in fact, a local business.
After these assets were ready, our in-house copy writer then interviewed the client to get the broad stroke basics of the operation so we could prepare all of the site content in an appropriate way.
This is important to get right for a website search engine ranking. We wouldn't employ an ex-print journalist to do our copy writing because while they are experts at writing and very qualified to do so, they lack the knowledge of SEO and how that works. Instead of writing a newspaper article for people to read, we're writing content that has to appeal to people and also the almighty Google. Google read every word int he websites we do and manipulating them with what we write and how we write it helps a website get good exposure, even without doing the whole SEO package.
From here, the design brief from the client was simple; Make it clean and corporate.
Our website designer then set about designing the concept. Instead of populating a pre-made WordPress template, the entire project needs to be designed from scatch. This includes all the css instructions that control how images, text and other assets react in the website based on the screen size. As our websites are custom coded and fully responsive, we need to set all of the break points individually for a project. This can take some time as there can be up to 50 break points for an asset between the smallest mobile screen and the biggest UHD displays.
